1. Open-mindedness

To be adaptable, one must also be open-minded and willing to challenge biases and assumptions by seeking out new perspectives, trying new things, and practicing active listening and empathy. 

2. Creativity

Creativity helps in finding innovative solutions to adapt to changing circumstances and unexpected problems, as it allows people to look beyond their current fears to find mindsets that better serve them in a new situation. 

3. Positive attitude

Highly adaptable people have a positive attitude, are willing to adapt to new situations, and look for the possibility and opportunity, with the humility to realize that things don’t always go according to plan. 

4. Resilience

Resilience is key to achieving goals through self-care, social support, physical health, positive mindset, and problem-solving skills. 

5. Flexibility

Flexibility is key to adaptability because it allows us to adjust our plans and explore new options when faced with changes, and actively developing it involves trying new things, letting go, and embracing change. 

6. Curiosity

Curiosity, often overlooked, is a powerful tool for problem-solving; highly adaptable individuals approach problems with curiosity to better understand the issue and open themselves up to new information and experiences, making adapting much easier. 

7. Resourcefulness

Resourceful people can effectively use available resources leading to a more positive life experience; to build greater resourcefulness, be proactive, ask for help, experiment, network, and practice problem-solving. 

8. Strong communication skills

Good communication skills are crucial for adaptability. They allow effective expression of needs and ideas, active listening, and understanding different communication styles.  

9. Self-aware

Being self-aware comes from being able to self-reflect accurately. You take the time to introspect and get to know your own thoughts and feelings without judgment.
