Kind people – they’re who we turn to in our darkest moments, the ones we rely on and trust.
But in a fast-paced world, the importance of having a kind heart can sometimes be undervalued and overlooked.
So, if someone you know displays these 8 traits, they’re a kind-hearted human who deserves to be shown all the goodness that they send out to others!
Let’s jump in:
1) They avoid being judgemental
One of the main traits of a kind-hearted humans is that they never judge a book by its cover.
Whether you’re a waiter, CEO, or window cleaner, kind-hearted folk will treat you equally – they don’t care about social status or what you look like!
The truth is, these people have BIG hearts. They struggle to turn away anyone who is in need, regardless of their background.
That’s why people turn to them often…They know that whatever they’re going through, kind-hearted people will keep an open mind, and will never, ever, look down on others going through hardship!
2) They have strong morals and values
Part of why kind-hearted people avoid making judgments is because they stick true to their morals.
People like this strongly believe in:
- Living with integrity – always doing the right thing
- Honesty – they never lie, not even little white lies
- Showing compassion – always helping those who have less
But most importantly, kind-hearted people will never compromise their moral beliefs.
When the rest of the world deems someone a lost cause, kind people step in and say, “You’re not alone, you’re deserving of love and care just like everyone else.”
This is what makes them so incredibly unique – we can trust them to be beacons of light in even the darkest moments!
3) They are empathetic
At the core of every kind-hearted human is empathy.
This means that they are highly skilled at putting themselves in the shoes of others, to better understand what they’re going through and how they feel.
It doesn’t matter what type of problem you approach them with; relationship issues, problems at work, falling out with friends, or financial worries – they will always empathize with you.
And let’s be honest, that’s all we really want and need!
Not someone to fix our problems or to click their fingers and make our issues disappear. We just want someone to understand us, give us a big hug, and reassure us that everything will be okay in the end!
And one thing that goes hand in hand with empathy is making the other person feel seen and heard…which leads me to my next point:
4) They are excellent listeners
Without great listening skills, it’s hard to provide empathy and truly be there for someone.
But you guessed it…kind-hearted humans have incredible listening skills. In fact, they tend to practice active listening. This includes:
- Maintaining eye contact throughout the conversation (this shows they’re engaged and interested)
- Refraining from interrupting (this allows people to speak freely and comfortably)
- Asking thoughtful questions (to get more context and a better understanding of the situation)
- Picking up on non-verbal cues (if someone starts to look upset or uncomfortable, kind-hearted people will recognize they need a calming touch or a reassuring word)
The bottom line is that people with this trait know the importance of giving someone their full attention, and not jumping in with suggestions or solutions every five minutes.
That’s what makes them so easy to talk to!
5) Patient
Now, to have good listening skills, you do need a level of patience.
And the truth is, kind-hearted people have patience and then some!
They are the type of people to give others second chances…even when someone messes up, they’ll hear them out and continue trying to guide them toward a good life.
And crucially, even when someone doesn’t want help, a kind-hearted person will still hold out hope for them.
They won’t badger them or force them to accept help, but they’ll be waiting on the sidelines for the day when that person changes their mind.
This goes hand in hand with their empathetic nature, but also because they know that everyone is on a journey. We have to have patience because, after all, people are incredibly complex!
6) They are dependable
Dependability is another important trait that signifies kind-heartedness. You see, to be dependable means to take responsibility and show up for those around you.
That’s why kind-hearted people will never let you down…
When you ask them for a favor, you know you don’t have to chase them up or worry about them canceling at the last minute – they’ll be there.
And even better?
Most kind-hearted humans don’t even need to be asked. If they see a neighbor who’s struggling, they’ll reach out.
If a family member is going through a tough time, you can bet they’ll turn up, ready to help wherever they can.
They go above and beyond for people because it’s in their nature to do good. In fact, they’re quite often the people that “restore our faith in humanity”!
7) They are generous
Now, this next trait shouldn’t come as a surprise, but kind-hearted people tend to be extremely generous!
And not just with materials possessions or money…they’re generous with their:
- Time
- Advice
- Attention
- Positivity
They believe everyone is deserving of kindness, and as long as you don’t abuse it, they will always greet you with arms wide open!
You’ll notice that kind-hearted people will never rush when giving you advice. They’ll never deny you food when you go round to visit, even if they don’t have much themselves.
And if the only thing they can offer you is a cup of coffee, they’ll make sure it’s the best cup they’ve ever made.
This all comes down to wanting to share what they have with others, and quite simply, putting a smile on people’s faces!
8) They are thoughtful
And the final trait of kind-hearted humans is their thoughtfulness.
I mentioned earlier how people like this don’t even need to be asked – they are proactive in helping others.
Well, this comes down to the fact that they’re very aware of what’s going on around them. They’re always looking out for non-verbal cues that someone might be upset or struggling.
But that’s not all…
They also keep in mind people’s likes and dislikes.
My kind neighbor, for example, saw that I enjoy smelling her roses whenever I pass them, and before I knew it, I came home to find a beautiful bouquet of them waiting for me on my garden table.
It’s little things like this that show the true character and nature of kind people. Their hearts are big and their mission in life is to spread comfort, warmth, and joy!
