7 signs you’re doing really well in life (even if you’re not wealthy)

Now, more than ever, people are hustling to achieve greater things.

Whether it is to attain that lifestyle they’ve always wanted, to lead a life that makes people envious, or just so that they can escape a life of working a 9-5 job, all these could make you feel like you’re lagging behind.

But are you, really?

Personally, as I get older, I realize that my markers of success have shifted. They’re no longer about achieving more things, but about leading a life I truly want. And when I think about where I am, I realize that I’m doing alright.

So today, let me share with you some indicators that you’re doing much better than you think you’re doing much better than you think – and no, it’s not how much you have in your bank account!

1) You’re content.

This is one of the biggest signs you’re doing well in life. Not many people can say that they’re content with what they have.

Most of the time, they’re dissatisfied with their current situation. They may be working long hours at a job that isn’t treating them well, in a relationship that they aren’t happy in, or generally wishing for more (of everything).

But you’re different. You’ve come to a place in life where you’re content with what you have.

You may not have a lot either. You’ve never won the lottery and may not have experienced a luxurious holiday. And to you, that’s okay.

Because what you have is enough.

2) You get a good night’s sleep.

Sleep is crucial in the restoration and recovery of our bodies and for overall health.

In this day and age, getting a good night’s rest is so elusive, that there is an entire industry dedicated to addressing this problem.

One of the biggest reasons for this is stress.

People are overwhelmed with things to do, fix, and catch up on. It haunts them just before they go to bed and robs them of a good night’s rest. They may even find themselves dreaming about the very thing they should be taking a break from.

Moreover, because most of us are so caught up with doing whatever we’re doing during the day, we feel that we’re much better off having our own leisure time at night, which robs us of sleep as well.

We’re scrolling through social media, Netflix, just so that we can give ourselves a ‘well-deserved break’.

Therefore, those who can get a good quality sleep within a decent number of hours, are really fortunate. Not everyone is able to do so.

3) You have sufficient time to spend with your loved ones.

Your friends may be earning a much higher salary than you, but in return, they’re working late into the night, with work sometimes spilling over to the weekends.

They miss out on time spent with their family and friends so that they can meet never-ending deadlines.

You, on the other hand, are able to get home for dinner with your family, grab drinks with friends, and spend weekends with the people who matter the most to you.

With every conversation and time spent with them, you strengthen relationships and deepen your emotional connection with these people.

In return…

4) You have a strong support network.

This community is there to celebrate your wins with you and be there when you’re at your lowest. When you’re in need of guidance, you have someone who genuinely wants the best for you and will help you succeed.

And as we grow older, these kinds of relationships are hard to come by. So if you have a strong community you can fall back on, consider yourself infinitely blessed. This is not something money can buy.

Sure, wealthy individuals do seem to have a huge community surrounding them, but more often than not, their ‘friends’ are a little more interested in the wealth, than the individual.

5) You have good work-life balance.

You may be working a job that may not pay as well as others, but you’re able to end on time. Sure you may be required to put in more hours when there’s a lot more to do, but these situations are few.

You not only have the time to pursue what you enjoy but also have the mental capacity to do so. You may be busy during work hours, but you’re able to switch off once you leave the office.

This allows you to be more present in the time spent with family and friends, or even, by yourself, when you’re doing something you like.

Generally, your life is free from work-related stress, which is not something everyone can say.

6) You’re able to pursue the things you’re passionate about.

For the majority of people, their jobs take up more than half their lives. This doesn’t count those who have to work overtime, or on weekends as well.

Consider yourself blessed if you’re able to find pockets of time to work on things you’re passionate about.

You get to enjoy quality leisure time that brings you joy and allows you to relax. You’re able to engage in creative pursuits as a form of self-expression. If you enjoy sports, you get to sweat it out and maintain a healthy lifestyle

Overall, you’re allowing yourself to get better at, or spending more time on what means the most to you.

7) You have inner peace.

As you sit back and reflect on your life, what is the first thing that comes to mind?

If it’s a sense of calm or peace, I’m envious of you.

As the world grows increasingly competitive and chaotic, finding peace within yourself is something most people may never attain.

But if you’re able to do so, congratulations! You may have just unlocked the secret to being happy.

You may even remain calm in the face of challenges, allowing you to tackle these with a clear head.

Personally, I believe that this is one of the biggest signs you’re doing very well in life.

Final thoughts

Do any of these sound familiar to you? If so, you may be doing much better than you think!

You don’t need to win the lottery or inherit a huge sum of money to show that you’re doing well in life because success can be determined by many other factors.

Instead of comparing yourself with other people, reflect on how far you’ve come and what you have now and be grateful.

This is one of the easiest ways to remain happy, for a long, long time.
