Why would anyone go to a psychic for advice?
I’m well placed to answer this question because I used to be that person.
In my case, I think I really struggled to handle the uncertainty of life. I wanted to be on sure ground. I felt that psychics could provide me with certainty.
For example, if I liked someone and I wasn’t sure how she felt, I’d go and get advice from a psychic. It would always clear things up and help me decide what to do.
Other times I’d go to a psychic for business advice. In the chaotic world of business, psychics provided me with a crutch that I so desperately needed. It felt like a psychic was my only hope.
You see, I wanted to be sure that everything I did would work out the way I wanted it to.
And therein lies the issue.
I’m not critical of psychics and the people who go to them for advice. For all I know, psychics may well have a sixth sense and access to special knowledge.
My problem is with myself and my motivation for seeing a psychic in the first place.
Life will always be chaotic. We can’t escape the fundamental uncertainty of our existence.
Over the last few years, I’ve immersed myself in self-development, but of a particularly special sort. My approach to self-development isn’t to remove uncertainty from my life. Rather, my focus has been on becoming comfortable with uncertainty.
I needed to give up on speaking with psychics in order to embrace the uncertainty of life.
So with this in mind, I’ve put together 10 reasons why you shouldn’t go to a psychic for advice.
1) You can change your future
I think this is one of the most important reasons why we should avoid psychics.
The assumption we have when we go to see a psychic is that the future is set in stone. We can’t change it. If a psychic told you that something would happen, you can’t do anything about it.
I used to be very confused by this. I gave so much power to the psychics I was speaking to. This then disempowered me and stopped me from taking control of the future.
My future isn’t pre-ordained. I’m not interested in a psychic telling me otherwise.
2) Your intuition matters more than someone else’s
I think the biggest challenge we all face is that we assume our intuition is weak or flawed. It’s not.
I learned how to tap into my intuition from my participation in Rudá Iandê’s online course, Out of the Box.
Rudá showed me how to activate this internal guidance system and use it to make the decisions in my life.
I’ve learned that there are ways to enhance our intuition and if you learn them, your internal guidance system will bring you much better results than a psychic can.
3) Your life is yours alone
I’ve had an issue with this for years. I thought my problems were common problems or that I could plug into someone else’s ‘wisdom’ to handle what was happening in my life.
Life is yours to own. Your problems are your own. There’s no point seeking advice from someone else unless you choose to.
The key, as Rudá says, to find your own answers, put in the hard work and deal with the consequences of your life. That’s what will make you strong and a force to be reckoned with in this world.
4) You can self-educate
This is something that I’ve devoted much of my life to. I now know that I can absolutely learn more about myself, than any other person.
I want to educate myself on my issues and how to work through them. There’s nothing worse than going to a psychic who has no clue what he’s talking about. Not only will he give you bad advice, but he’ll also waste your time and money as well.
5) You’re a survivor
The human race has been around for tens of thousands of years. We’ve dealt with every different kind of threat to our existence, from dangerous animals to other tribes wanting control over us.
We’re survivors.
As someone who is alive today, you have the resources and strength needed to overcome anything in your life. You don’t need an external source of advice, validation or comfort. That’s all 100% within you and the resources you already possess.
As Rudá Iandê writes in his article on the point of life:
“Our warrior spirit, combined with our creativity and ingenuity, makes us incredible beings! We, small creatures, lacking strength and agility, have managed to surpass so many species that could have extinguished us. We’ve fought our way and have made the impossible possible, thriving in such a competitive, wild, and dangerous world. And despite all the challenges around and within ourselves, we don’t stop our fight.”
6) Your mistakes are yours to make
This was a really tough lesson I had to learn, but it goes to the core of embracing uncertainty in life.
I used to be so scared of making a mistake. That’s why I wanted to get advice from psychics. They’d help me avoid getting things wrong.
Instead, I had to accept that I made my own mistakes and make sure that the consequences were what I wanted them to be.
This is a tough thing to learn, but it’s important. Life is filled with mistakes, so embrace them and make something of them.
7) You’re not powerless
You might think you are powerless in life, when you see how many outside forces can influence what happens in your life. But you don’t need psychics to tell you this.
Take control of your life instead. Set goals and work on achieving them. You’ll feel so much better doing that than going to a psychic for advice.
Embrace the uncertainty of life, choose what you want to do, and then go for it!
8) You can’t escape your fears
In Out of the Box, Rudá Iandê teaches us how embrace fear.
The trick isn’t to try and defeat fear. It’s not a negative emotion.
Rather, fear is an important emotion that is here to educate us.
As Rudá says:
“As you become friends with your fear, you’ll start seeing it for what it is: an intelligent being, a force of life, one of the many faces of God, playing with us, and creating through us. Making peace with your fear is an essential step in making peace with who you are. Your fear is not an alien. It’s a critical part of your nature, which should be contemplated rather than judged. Through meditation, you can perceive fear from a much deeper perspective and experience it as energy and a universal force. When you come to this point, you will be able to turn your fear into a source of boundless energy and creativity.”
9) You don’t need other people to know you
As humans, we’ve always looked to others to tell us who we are. This has almost always been a mistake.
Psychics and mediums will only tell you what someone else wants them to say, not who you are truly are. Instead of relying on many other people to know you, start discovering yourself as an individual. Learn about your strengths and weaknesses. And when you’re ready, explore areas where you can improve yourself.
10) You don’t need psychics to tell you how to live
Psychics can only tell you what they know, which is usually limited and not always a good idea. They’re no substitute for true knowledge.
Learn about yourself instead, where you are now, what you want and how to achieve those things. Use books, classes and advice from people who know more than you. This is the true path to life-long happiness and success.
Still not convinced?
There are my 10 reasons for giving up on seeing psychics and embracing the uncertainty of life.
But if you still feel tempted to get some life advice from a psychic, I think you have two pretty clear choices.
The first choice is that you could enroll in Rudá Iandê’s online course, Out of the Box. I needed Out of the Box to show me how to embrace my fears, anxieties and insecurities and turn them into personal power.
Thanks to participation in Out of the Box, I stopped using psychics as a crutch.
I recommend checking out Out of the Box here. This is a private link to join at a significant discount.
If this first choice seems a little daunting, and you still want to get life advice from a psychic, then there is an obvious second choice.
The second choice is to go and speak with a psychic.
This may seem counterintuitive. This article is all about giving up on seeing psychics.
But let’s get real. You’re 1,500 words into the article and still thinking of getting life advice from a psychic.
Life is uncertain. Psychics can give good advice.
And what do I know? Your life is yours to live.
Do whatever works for you.
But a quick word of warning. Don’t just speak with any old psychic. There are a lot of charlatans out there.
Speak with the psychics at Psychic Source. They’re our partners and at least the psychics are reviewed. You can even read the reviews.
Check out Psychic Source here.
I think you’ll be better off in the long-term for joining Out of the Box and getting to the core of the uncertainty we all feel deep within.
But there’s nothing wrong with getting some short-term satisfaction from seeing a psychic. I used to do this. It’s up to you.
