If your partner does these 12 things, they truly value you

We often wonder if our partners truly value us.

But sometimes, it’s not all about the grand gestures or expensive gifts they give us, right?

Believe it or not, the little things they do (or don’t do) can speak volumes about how much they care.

So, grab a comfy seat and let’s chat about the things your partner does that show they truly value you.

You might be pleasantly surprised!

1. They Really Listen to You

Ever had one of those days when you just need to vent?

Or maybe you’re excited about something and can’t wait to share it?

If your partner really values you, they’ll be all ears.

They don’t just nod along or give vague responses. They actively listen, engage with what you’re saying, and respond appropriately.

They might even remember small details you shared a while back. This shows they genuinely care about your thoughts and feelings.

2. They Show Respect for Your Boundaries

Everyone has their own space and limits, right?

If your partner truly values you, they’ll respect your boundaries without making a big fuss about it.

They won’t push you to share your personal passwords or insist on being with you every single minute. They understand that you need your own time and space, just like they do.

Respecting boundaries also means they won’t force you into situations that make you uncomfortable. They understand that ‘no’ means ‘no’, without exceptions.

3. They’re Your Biggest Cheerleader

You know what’s great? Having someone in your corner, cheering you on, no matter what.

If your partner truly values you, they’ll be your number one fan.

Let me share a personal example.

A few years back, I decided to run a marathon. Now, I’m no athlete and at that time, I couldn’t even run a mile without panting like a dog!

But my partner, instead of laughing at my big dream, encouraged me every step of the way.

Every morning, they’d wake up with me at dawn to train, even if it was freezing outside. They’d celebrate every small progress I made and never let me give up.

In the end, I did run that marathon. But more importantly, I realized how lucky I was to have someone who believed in me so much.

So if your partner celebrates your victories, pushes you towards your goals, and stands by your side even when you fail, you can bet they truly value you. Isn’t that amazing?

4. They Include You in Their Future Plans

When your partner starts including you in their future plans, it’s a pretty good sign they value you. They’re not just thinking about the here and now, they’re picturing you in their life long-term.

It’s the people who envision a shared future with their partners that are more committed and satisfied in their relationship.

So, if your partner talks about future vacations, where you guys might live in a few years, or even what dog breed you might get together, it’s a strong sign they see you as an integral part of their life.

5. They Show Up for You in Tough Times

Life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows, is it? We all face tough times and challenges.

It’s easy to be there during the good times, but it’s during the tough times that love truly shines through.

If your partner shows up for you when you need them most, it’s the ultimate proof that they value you deeply.

They won’t run away at the first sign of trouble or leave you to face your problems alone.

Instead, they’ll stick around, offering their support and comfort. They might not have all the answers or solutions, but their presence alone will make things a little less daunting.

After all, as they say, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” Isn’t that one of the most beautiful expressions of love and value?

6. They Take Care of You When You’re Sick

Being sick is the pits, isn’t it?

But if your partner truly values you, they’ll be right there, taking care of you.

I remember when I caught the flu last winter. I was a mess – snotty nose, fever, the works.

But my partner was there throughout, making me soup, fetching me tissues, and even enduring my grumpiness.

They didn’t have to do any of that – they could’ve just kept their distance to avoid getting sick themselves.

But they chose to be there with me, to comfort me and care for me.

That’s when I realized how much they valued me. It was not about the healthy, fun moments together but about the fact that they were willing to stick around even in sickness.

7. They Apologize When They’re Wrong

Nobody’s perfect, right? We all make mistakes.

But it takes a certain level of honesty and humility to own up to those mistakes.

If your partner truly values you, they won’t let their ego get in the way of an apology.

They mess up, they say sorry. Simple as that.

They don’t try to justify their wrongs or shift the blame onto you. Instead, they acknowledge their faults and work on making things better.

8. They Show Interest in Your Interests

When your partner truly values you, they’ll show interest in what interests you.

They might not be a huge fan of your favorite band, or understand your fascination with vintage stamps, but they’ll still take an interest simply because it matters to you.

So if your partner is willing to sit through that documentary about butterflies with you or tries to learn more about your latest knitting project, take note.

It’s a clear sign they value you and want to understand you better.

9. They Make Sacrifices for You

In any relationship, compromise is key. If your partner truly values you, they’ll be willing to make sacrifices for your happiness.

Take my relationship for example.

My partner is a night owl and loves staying up late watching movies or playing video games. I, on the other hand, am an early bird and need my beauty sleep.

To accommodate my early bedtime, my partner started winding down earlier in the evening so we could go to bed together.

This might seem like a small thing, but it meant a lot to me. They sacrificed their late-night routine just so we could spend more time together.

So, if your partner gives up something they enjoy for your sake, it’s a big sign that they value you and prioritize your happiness.

10. They’re Not Afraid to Show Vulnerability

Let’s keep it real. We all have our fears, insecurities, and emotional baggage.

It takes courage to be vulnerable. To let someone in, knowing they might hurt you. But that’s what intimacy is all about.

If your partner truly values you, they won’t hide these from you. They’ll open up, show you their true selves – warts and all.

11. They Stand Up for You

Life can be tough. Sometimes, you’ll face criticism or challenges from others.

If your partner truly values you, they won’t stand by and let you fend for yourself.

They’ll stand up for you, defend you, be your rock.

Because that’s what partners do – they have each other’s backs.

12. They Say “We” Instead of “I”

Finally, listen to how your partner talks.

Do they say “we” instead of “I”?

If so, it’s a good sign they see the two of you as a team.

It means they’re thinking about both of your needs and wants, not just their own. That’s a big deal in a relationship. It shows that they value you and see a future together.
