Well, your brain is a very clever thing.

It’s designed to take all the bad things that happen to us and turn them into positive things.

What’s more?

Negative thoughts are a big part of why you’re unhappy.

Every day, they come and go like clouds. They’re always there, and they don’t go away.  You can’t do anything about them. They’re always in your head, and you can never get them out.

But you don’t have to live with them. You don’t have to accept that things are just how they are and that’s how life is supposed to be. You can change this!

One way to do so is by practicing being a skeptic. This means being very careful when you hear something or read something that sounds plausible because it might be wrong, exaggerated, or just plain false!

By doing this, you learn to critically think about everything you hear and read, which will help improve your decision-making skills and allow you to make more informed decisions.

And you know what?

The moment you start thinking that you can’t escape reality, it becomes impossible for you to escape reality, because the more negative thoughts you have, the harder it is for you to be happy and enjoy life.

This means that if you want to escape reality, the first thing you need to do is get rid of your negative thoughts!

If something really bad happens in your life, don’t think about how awful it was or what could have been done differently.

Instead of thinking like that, think like this: The great thing about these bad things happening to me was that they led me to discover what I love doing in life.

2) Identify things that make you unhappy

Yes, I get it. You know that you’re unhappy. It’s clear and obvious. You feel it every single day, and you’re sure about it.

But how can you be sure that these feelings really make you unhappy?

Admit it. When you’re feeling unhappy, you feel it so strongly that you can’t even remember what made you happy in the first place.

That’s why in step two, we’re going to focus on finding the cause of your unhappiness.

So how are we going to do this?

We’ll start by asking ourselves questions: What makes me unhappy? What could make me happier?

Once we have the answers, we’ll analyze them, and then see what we can do about them.

I know what you’re thinking right now.

Understanding the reasons why you’re feeling unhappy isn’t that easy. However, you should understand that self-reflection is an important part of the process.

You need to take some time, to be honest with yourself and think about what’s making you sad, what’s bothering you, and how you can solve the situation.

So, the next time somebody asks you the question, “What makes you unhappy?”, hopefully, you can answer them!

3) Break down your toxic spiritual habits

Did you know that your toxic spiritual habits play a major part in your unhappiness?

Believe it or not, the person you are today, the quality of your relationship, and even the level of achievement you have in your life are determined by how you see and treat yourself.

Now you probably wonder what I even mean when I’m talking about toxic habits.

Let me explain.

When it comes to our personal spiritual journey, we all pick up some toxic habits without even recognizing them.

For instance, sometimes you might feel the urge to be positive all the time. And other times, you may feel a sense of superiority over people who lack spiritual awareness.

Whatever your case is, you need to know that it’s completely fine because guess what?

Even well-meaning gurus and experts can get it wrong.

The result is that you end up achieving the opposite of what you’re searching for. You do more to harm yourself than heal.

And sometimes you also hurt people around you. But this makes you even more unhappy, wanting you to escape reality and wish for a better life.

Let them take a guess.

When you’re in a negative mood, you think everything is bad and you believe there’s no point in doing anything.

But you know what?

You are not perfect. Not everyone is going to like what you say or what you do. Being perfect is an illusion. It doesn’t exist in this world, and it won’t exist for you either.

The truth is, the more time we spend trying to be perfect, the less time we have for other things that are equally important for us to live our lives well.

When I was still struggling with my own personal problems, I used to think about how I should change everything about myself. But guess what?

Neither of the methods I used worked. And of course, when I went back home and tried applying them in real life, I found out that I had to give up on perfectionism.

Why am I saying this?

Well, it’s not your job to change anything about yourself. You have to let go of this idea that you need to be perfect in order to be happy and achieve your goals.

The only way you can achieve those is by accepting who you are right now, without trying to change it in any way.

This may seem like a tough pill to swallow at first, but when you let go of perfectionism, you’ll start seeing things differently and will be able to feel a great sense of freedom.

So, remember that escaping reality starts from giving up on being a perfectionist.

5) Stop being a victim of your fears

Want to find another method of escaping reality and living a better life?

You need to learn how to accept what is happening in your life.

When you’re not able to accept reality, it makes you feel like a victim, and you don’t do anything about it. You can stay stuck in this state of mind for years, feeling helpless and wishing that things would change.

Yes, I know it’s hard for you to accept that things won’t change, especially when you’re feeling like a victim of your circumstances. You can try telling yourself that everything will be alright if you just get out of bed and start doing something about it.

The only problem?

If you don’t try to overcome your fears, you’ll never escape the reality that you fear so much.

How do I know?

Because I’ve been there and I know what it’s like to be stuck in that state of mind.

The first thing that you need to do is acknowledge the reality you’re afraid of. It doesn’t matter how much you try to avoid it; it’s still right in front of you.

Think about it: when you’re talking about a situation that scares the hell out of you, your brain starts producing chemicals that trigger those feelings of fear and anxiety.

But if you can’t accept that reality is there, then you’ll never be able to change anything about it. You’ll just end up feeling more helpless than ever before because your fears will keep growing bigger by the day.

That’s why you have to accept it. And that way, you’ll quickly realize that the unsatisfying reality you’ve been living in has already disappeared.

6) Stop comparing yourself to your peers

Imagine you see a happy person walking down the street.

So you say to yourself: “I know this person looks happy. I wish I looked like her”.

But how do you know if that’s what you’re thinking? Are you sure it’s not something else?

For example, maybe the girl who looks happy has just landed her dream job and is in love with her boyfriend.

Or maybe she’s just someone who always looks happy. Maybe she has a lot of friends and never has any problems with her family. Maybe she’s always smiling, even if things are not going the way she wants them to be.

But I’m not going to speculate about someone who looks like a happy person. What I’m going to do si to tell you that you shouldn’t compare yourself to other people. Why?

Because that way, you’ll only make yourself feel worse if you do that!

The truth is that constantly comparing yourself to others will never let you escape the reality you don’t like. Instead, it might make you feel trapped into believing that you’re not good enough when you really are.

You might think that comparing yourself to others will help you. But in reality, it’ll only make you feel lower than ever!

So remember: you can’t compare your life to someone else’s and still expect to be happy about it. You’ll just end up feeling inferior because of it.

7) Build a strong relationship with yourself

Did you know that connecting with your inner self is a powerful step towards having a better life?

Just think about it.

What do you know about your inner beliefs?

When was the last time you kept in touch with yourself?

Have you been talking to your inner self for the past few months?

I know that some of you just don’t like to hear about the importance of talking to yourself. But guess what? It’s still true! If you don’t connect with yourself, then you’ll never be able to have a better life.

But hang on a second.

Is there anything you can do to escape reality and build a strong relationship with yourself?

Frankly, yes, there is.

Begin with yourself. Stop searching for external fixes to sort out your life. Deep down, you know this isn’t working.

8) Write down your thoughts and reflect

Have you ever tried to practice self-reflection?

As I mentioned briefly, reflecting on your thoughts is a great way to escape reality. Why?

Because self-reflection helps you to discover why you are unhappy and what things make you happy. For example, if you’re not happy with your job, you can reflect on what it is about your job that makes you unhappy. You could write down the following two questions:

  • What am I doing at work that makes me unhappy?
  • What do I really want out of my job?

You could then reflect on both of these questions.

Now you probably wonder why I’m suggesting this method.

The simple truth is that when you do this, you’ll realize that there are many things in your life that make you unhappy. And also, there are many ways to change your unhappy future and feel better about your life.

And that’s why I want you to write down your thoughts and reflect on them.

Just keep your journal with you everywhere you go and write down your thoughts and reflections as you go.

10) Take a break and spend time in nature

When was the last time you gave yourself a proper break?

Two weeks ago? A month ago? Maybe even a year ago.

The truth is that one of the reasons why we often feel the urge to escape reality is that we’re exhausted from our routine life.

But taking time out to be alone with nature is one of the most effective ways to escape reality and feel better about your life.

This is because when you spend time in nature, you’ll discover that there are many things that make you happy inside. And also, there are many ways to change your unhappy future and feel better about your life.

So how can you escape reality and find inner peace?

Well, I think that the most direct way is to spend some time in nature.

Why? Because nature is a great place to get real, and also, it helps you release all of your stress. So if you’re going through a stressful period in your life, spending time in nature will help you escape reality and feel better about yourself.

11) Cook something by yourself

Believe it or not, cooking is one of the most effective ways to escape reality and feel better about your life.

Why? Because when you cook something by yourself, you’ll discover that there are many things that make you happy inside. And also, there are many ways to change your unhappy future and feel better about your life.

Now let me ask you a question.

When was the last time you cooked something by yourself?

If you’re not a good cook, chances are that you haven’t cooked anything by yourself in a long time.

But cooking is a great way to escape reality and feel better about your life.

And you know what? You don’t even need to have good skills in cooking to enjoy the benefits of cooking.

The fact of the matter is that the thing that makes you happy while cooking is that you’re creating something with your hands.

And this is a great way to escape reality and discover that there are many things that help you enjoy your life.

If you’re familiar with self-help gurus or motivational speakers, you’ve probably heard of mindfulness or yoga.

Now I’ll walk you through the whole process and show you why.

Mindfulness is a way to learn how to live in the present moment and also a way to release all of your stress.

And yoga is one of the best ways to lose weight and release stress from your body. So if you’re overweight or have a lot of stress in your body, practicing yoga will help you escape reality and feel better about yourself.

So what does it mean?

Mindfulness and yoga are two great ways to escape reality and find inner peace. Both these methods help you escape your everyday life and help you discover the things that make you happy.

And the best part is that you don’t even need to be a yoga or mindfulness expert in order to learn this.

All you need to do is practice these methods regularly, and soon enough, your life will change for the better. And when that happens, your stress levels will significantly decrease.

13) Face new challenges and leave your comfort zone

OK, I know this doesn’t sound like something you’re eager to hear. But trust me, this is one of the most important things you can do to escape reality and feel better about your life.

But the reality is that escaping reality and feeling better about yourself requires you to do something new and challenging.

And if you don’t engage in these types of activities on a regular basis, you’ll find that your life will get stuck in a rut.

What does your social life look like? Are you satisfied with it? Do you want to improve it?

If you feel that your social life lacks something, chances are that you’re not surrounded by people who make you smile.

To make matters worse, you may not be surrounded by anyone at all.

But you do know that we’re social animals and we require human interaction to thrive. So if you don’t have friends and family members in your life, then your social life won’t be satisfying.

And the truth is that this lack of interaction can cause a lot of problems in your life. For example, it could lead to you feeling lonely and bored.

But when you surround yourself with people who make your smile appear every time they enter a room, your life will change for the better. And when that happens, it’s very likely that you’ll feel much happier and more fulfilled in life too.

So if you want to escape reality and feel better about your life, I suggest that you start building relationships with people who make your smile appear every time they enter a room!

15) Fall in love with someone

For those who want to escape reality and enjoy their lives, be ready because now I’m going to share the most important tip of all.

Yes, I’m talking about falling in love.

You may think that this is a silly tip. But it’s not. It’s actually very important to your happiness and well-being.

Why? Because when you fall in love, you become happier and more fulfilled in life. And the more you fall in love, the better your life will become too.

The truth is that, when you’re in love, you enjoy your own reality so much that you can’t even think about escaping reality.

In fact, you’ll get so caught up in your feelings that you’ll forget all about escaping reality. And when that happens, it’s very likely that you’ll feel much happier and more fulfilled in life too.

16) Explore different cultures

Have you ever traveled abroad? If you have, then you’ll know that the experience is a thrilling one.

But your experience is even more thrilling when you travel abroad in search of different cultures. Why?

Because exploring different cultures will allow you to learn new things and encounter different ideas.

In fact, there is an immense amount of information that can be absorbed during your experiences abroad, you’ll never feel bored or uninterested in exploring the world’s diversity.

Sounds impressive, right?

What’s better is that you’ll escape your own reality along the way without even noticing it.

That’s exactly why people enjoy traveling to various countries, and that’s also how they manage to live happy and fulfilling lives.

You’ve probably already heard about the importance of reading books. But I’d like to suggest something different.

I’m talking about watching movies with deep meaning.

Yes, I know that a lot of movies are meaningless and they don’t have much of a purpose in life. But you’ll be surprised to learn that there are many movies out there that have a great deal of meaning and purpose in life.

And the best part is that, when you watch these meaningful movies and read these meaningful books, you’ll easily escape your reality.

In fact, many people watch movies or read books in order to look at things from other people’s shoes and live their lives.

And in your case too, this might help you to understand how to become a happier person.

Just don’t forget to reflect on your thoughts in the process of reading your favorite book or watching a thoughtful movie. That way, you’ll be able to understand yourself better, which is a great step towards living a fulfilling life.

18) Do something creative or artistic on a daily basis

Have you ever wondered why people enjoy doing creative and artistic things?

Well, the answer to this question is simple. Because it gives them a sense of satisfaction and fulfillment.

But also, it’s because it allows them to experience a flow state.

If you’re not familiar with positive psychology, chances are that you haven’t heard anything about the concept of “flow”. Let me explain then.

In positive psychology, “flow” is a concept that describes the state when a person is fully immersed in an activity he or she does.

They are focused so much that they don’t even remember that the reality outside of them still exists. Instead, they’re lost in the activity and lose the sense of time.

All they feel is freedom and excitement.

It’s no surprise that when people are in this state, they perform at a higher level. Some people even say that flow makes them feel like they’re “in another world”.

So if you’re looking for a simple yet effective way to escape your reality and experience the flow state, try doing something creative or artistic daily.

For example, you can write poetry, draw pictures, play an instrument, or sing in the shower every day. It doesn’t matter what you do, as long as it’s creative or artistic on some level. But make sure that you enjoy it first!

And remember to take breaks from time to time so that you don’t burn out and become bored with it all too soon.
