If you have these 15 characteristics, you’re a mentally tough person

Despite what you’re led to believe, mental strength isn’t genetic. It’s a choice and an attitude.

We all go through shit in life, but mentally strong people learn from these experiences to help them move forward in life.

If you think that you’re mentally strong, you might identify with these 15 signs:

1) You know the right balance between logic and emotions:

Mentally strong people understand the rule of balance between their logical mind and their emotional heart.

Emotions allow them to create movement and action. They generate energy and motivation.

However, they know that emotion can only get them so far and it’s important to have logic to fall back on.

2) You know how to productively spend time:

Mentally tough people are all about efficiency and have effective strategies for managing their time .

They set clear goals, break down those goals into discreet steps and review progress periodically.

They also know how to prioritize, ticking off the most important to the least important every single day.

3) You are adaptive to change:

The one constant in life is change. That doesn’t mean it’s easy to embrace. But mentally strong people strive to be okay with the fact that things change.

They realize that more stress occurs in the long run if you fail to acknowledge that things are always changing.

4) You face your fears:

We all experience fear, even mentally strong people. But instead of cowering to fear, mentally strong people embrace it and realize that it’s just a figment of their imagination.

They know that action is the only way to overcome it, and progress will only occur when you push through.

5) You avoid repeating mistakes:

A mentally tough person accept their mistakes and seek to become better by learning to avoid them.

Everyone makes mistakes but people that have a strong mentality will avoid making the same mistake twice.

6) You know the difference between who you want to be and who you are:

A person that is mentally strong will accept who they are but will seek to keep improving themselves constantly to become who they want to be.

7) You celebrate the success of others:

Being mentally strong means that you know how to celebrate the success and happiness of others without feeling jealous.

8) You hold your values close:

People that are mentally strong live according to their values and prioritize them when they make decisions – this is why they never have any trouble when making a decision!

9) You value yourself as a person:

You place true value on who you actually are and not what you have or what you have achieved.

10) You know how to be patient:

Being mentally strong means that you know that success does not come immediately and you have to wait for gaining your rewards. Mentally strong individuals understand the sweetest fruits take the longest to ripen.

11) You take responsibility for your actions:

Instead of blaming others and cowering behind excuses, you take responsibility for your own actions and own up to when you’ve done wrong.

12) You make opportunities out of difficulties:

Some people complain when they encounter difficult circumstances. But mentally strong just accept this as a part of life. They know that every problem that you face is another opportunity to grow.

13) You are grateful:

Mentally strong people know that what they have is more than what they need and are thankful for this rather than ranting about what they do not have.

14) You focus only on what you know best:

Mentally strong people are successful since they know how to dedicate their efforts and time to what they know they do best rather than wasting resources on something that they have no knowledge about.

15) You know how to pick yourself up:

One of the most prominent attributes of mentally strong individuals is that they know how to get back up after a fall. They understand that failure is not the end of their road but instead the beginning of a path that will lead them to success in the future.
